Presentation 1: A blind users experience of the web
(7.00pm - 7.40pm)
Lyn Eagers, from Visetrain will be talking about the web from a blind persons perspective. The talk will include demonstration of JAWS (the most widely used screen reader on the market today). Lyn will be talking about websites that work and don't work - including some of the frustrating experiences that blind users face on a daily basis.

This talk is a must-attend for any developer who is interested in accessibility - especially government developers.

Presentation 2: The Influence of Ajax on Web 2.0
(7.50pm - 8.30pm)
Dr. Michael Rees will describe the growing maturity of the Ajax technologies used to develop highly-interactive web sites that come into the Web 2.0 category. Michael has developed a number of Ajax sites for collaborative online editing and he will describe how they have been implemented. He will also survey some of the Ajax frameworks that are appearing.

Michael Rees has over thirty years teaching and research experience in computer science and Internet technology. His current areas of interest include web application user interface design for collaborative systems and e-learning environments. He has developed a number of collaborative Web 2.0 interactive web sites over several years using what is now known as Ajax technology. Dr Rees has authored a number of books, the latest of which is a practical introduction to Designing Web Interfaces. He is currently an Associate Professor in Computer Science in the School of Information Technology at Bond University.
