Topic 2: Measuring, optimising and comparing search result quality

The quality of results delivered by a web site’s search facility can critically affect the degree to which organisational goals, such as effective delivery of government programs and policy messages or company profits, are achieved.

Dr David Hawking, Chief Scientist at Funnelback Pty Ltd and Information Retrieval Science Leader at the CSIRO ICT Centre will discuss the new C-TEST framework he has developed as a useful tool to measure the utility of web search results.
