Event Details

The WSG and Web Directions are very proud to present Jeremy Keith, this Thursday evening in Melbourne. Jeremy is in Australia for the WD06 conference, and is only in Melbourne for a few days. He has kindly agreed to give a presentation entitled The Joy of API.

If you didn't get the chance to go to Sydney for the conference, now is your chance to see one of the Web's most influential thinkers (and most engaging public speakers) talk in Melbourne -- for free!

Jeremy Keith
Jeremy Keith head and shouldersJeremy Keith is a web developer with the web consultancy firm Clearleft in Brighton, England where he enjoys building accessible, elegant websites using the troika of web standards: XHTML, CSS and the DOM. His online home is adactio.com.

Jeremy is a member of the Web Standards Project where he serves as joint leader of the DOM Scripting Task Force. He wrote the book DOM Scripting: Web Design with JavaScript and the Document Object Model.

When he's not building websites, Jeremy plays bouzouki in the alt.country band Salter Cane. He is also the creator and curator of one of the Web's largest online communities dedicated to Irish traditional music, The Session.

Cost?
There is no cost to attend. No, really! Food and beverages are kindly being made available thanks to SitePoint. SitePoint is a Melbourne-based company who, when not handing out free pizza, publish articles and books on best practice web development, with a focus on web standards. Their discussion forums are also home to the web's most active web development community, so I encourage you to check them out at www.sitepoint.com if you haven't already.

Also many thanks to Web Directions for bringing Jeremy out to Australia.

Who Should Attend?
Anyone interested in best practice web design or development is welcome to attend. The meetings are very informal and we always allow time for open discussion.

One of our strong points is that the group has a broad range of skills and interests within the web development area (Flash, PHP, Ruby, DOM Scripting, CSS, XML, usability, accessibility etc). This means that discussions are always lively. All of us are interested in web standards!
