Event Details

On Monday, November 17th, Chris Sampson (Parisfirst Partners) and Ian Stewart (Office of the Premier of Victoria) will be talking about the building of the Premier's web site — the first Victorian Government site to use Web 2.0 media.

This event will occur at Loop Bar in the city — note once again this is a Monday night.

Chris and Ian will be speaking about the current Premier of Victoria's website. Chris will discuss why Joomla! and YouTube were chosen, and how other design and build issues were solved. Ian will talk about improvements to the original site, including implementing Flickr and the first live webcast, as well as some insight into where Victorian Government is heading online.

Chris Sampson has been building web sites and writing web strategies, information architectures and governance frameworks for websites for over twelve years. She is a director of Parisfirst Partners and considers herself lucky to have been in an industry that is constantly evolving and throwing
up new challenges. Chris's work has ranged from building the first Department of Justice website to more recently planning for and managing the build and launch of the Premier's website — the first Victorian government website to use Web 2.0 media.


Ian Stewart

Ian Stewart is the Web Manager of the Premier of Victoria's website. Ian started working on websites in 1997 in various technical roles with the now Department of Sustainability and  Environment. Recently Ian was with Multimedia Victoria researching virtual worlds and developing the first Second Life site for Victorian government. Ian has managed the Premier's website since its launch early this year and chairs the Victorian Government Web Developers Reference Group.
