On Wednesday, August 27, the Melbourne Web Standards Group and AIMIA join forces for an exciting usability double-header! Join us as not one but two usability experts share their experience and deliver practical advice that you can use in the real world.

First up, Joji Mori will present an insight into how usability works with video. This will be followed up by our returning guest Gerry Gaffney's presentation about how to take usability back to the people you work with.

Presentation: Usability in Video (Joji Mori)

Joji Mori, from UsabilityOne will be talking about the recently released Usability Guidelines for Online Video. No broadcaster, media maker or hosting company should ignore the critical advice contained in these guidelines. The process and results of applying these guidelines will be demonstrated with an opportunity for discussion.

Presentation: The Secret Ingredient: Building Corporate Awareness of Usability (Gerry Gaffney)

Gerry Gaffney

Usability consultant and evangelist Gerry Gaffney will talk about the secret ingredient for building corporate awareness of usability, and raising the profile of user-centred design within your organisation. Gerry is the director of Information and Design, a Melbourne company with a raft of clients including ACMI, LinkMe, Privacy Victoria, ANZ, and Coles Group.

Gerry is co-author of Forms That Work (to be published in October) and The Usability Kit. He also runs the User Experience Podcast.

Good presentations. Was valuable to hear others talking about issues I've been working with myself but not been sure if I was on the right track. Affirmation from industry experts was a confidence boost.
