On Wednesday, April 23rd, we have two exciting presenters lined up for you. Sydney-based John Allsopp will be flying down especially to present on the topic of web browsers beyond the desktop, and usability guru Gerry Gaffney will be looking at how users really go about searching for information. As always this event will occur at Loop Bar in the city -- note it is a Wednesday night.

This really is a unique combination of high quality speakers, so be sure to order yourself a beer and grab a seat early!

Presentation: The Web Beyond The Desktop (John Allsopp)

John Allsopp

Successful software developer, long standing web development speaker, writer, evangelist and expert, John has spent the last 15 years working with and developing for the web. As the head developer of the leading cross platform CSS development tool Style Master, and developer and publisher of renowned training courses and learning resources on CSS and standards based development, John is widely recognized as a leader in these fields.

As a presenter and educator, John speaks frequently at conferences around Australia and the world, including the upcoming Web Directions UX in Melbourne. His idiosyncratic blog Dog or Higher covers a broad range of subjects, particularly in technology and innovation, and is widely read and referenced.

Gerry Gaffney is founder & director of Information & Design, a small usability consultancy based in Melbourne, Australia.

He's also the Managing Editor of User Experience, the print magazine of the Usability Professionals' Association (UPA), and runs the popular User Experience Podcast.

Gerry has a keen interest in 'do-it-yourself' usability. He lectures under-graduate and post-graduate students in various universities on usability and user experience design.

Gerry has spoken on this and related topics in Australia, Hong Kong and Taiwan, has been interviewed on national radio and has written several newspaper articles. Gerry is also a co-author of The Usability Kit. He also runs the User Experience Podcast.
