On December 6th, James Farmer, former online community manager for theage.com.au and organiser of the first ever Melbourne WordCamp, will be talking about blogging tools.
James Farmer has worked with teams turning blogging platforms into content management systems, social networks, academic journals, and communities for professionals... and Sam and the City.
Social software built around open source platforms like WordPress, extended through plugins and crammed full of widgets and APIs are starting to pop up left right and centre.
In this get together James will take you through some examples, illustrate just how easy they are to put together and talk about how blogs, and other elements of social software do, and don't, fit into the mass media landscape in Australia.
James Farmer is the founder of Edublogs.org, the largest educational blog network on the web, and co-founder of Incsub.com, the first WordPress MultiUser development firm.
In past incarnations he's been the Online Community Editor of The Age and worked as a Lecturer in Education Design at Deakin University.
